⁷ When Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was feeling a bit merry, he went over to lie down at the far end of the grain pile. She quietly approached, uncovered his feet and lay down.

⁸ In the middle of the night, the man was startled when he turned over and there was a woman at his feet. ⁹ He said, “Who are you?” She answered, “I am Ruth, your handmaid. Spread your covering^[a] over your handmaid, for you are my next of kin.”
